Research skills video playlist: Embed in cuLearn






I have made a suite of instructional videos to help students improve their foundational search skills such as evaluating online information, as well as finding books and journal articles. This suite or playlist is found on the Library website:

 1. Go to www.library.carleton.ca
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the video/Youtube link in the bottom right-hand corner.
3. Click on playlists and then the Research Skills 2019 playlist.

 These videos can be embedded in cuLearn.

Mapping stereotypes

Maps are powerful data visualization tools that can promote important conversations about a range of topics human settlements and watersheds to how we think about the world. Case in point: This World War I vintage map of Europe.   This map is currently on display in the Carleton University Library, along with other maps such as The world according to Americans (2009)  that capture human judgement and bias and other library materials that can be used to open up conversations about stereotyping and discrimination. The display continues to generate important conversations among students as well as between students and library staff. Here's a story about this exhibit: The world according to ... whom? New research databases: February 2023

  This beautiful grey owl perched on a tree at the edge of our "Back 40" earlier this week. Patient, still, maybe sleeping? Definitely interested in the activity in the small stretch of open water below their vantage point. Kind of like a researcher, waiting to see what will transpire ... The following databases are now available for Carleton faculty, students, and staff.
