Now Accepting Library Reserve Requests


MacOdrum Library is now accepting library reserve requests for the upcoming academic year. Send your course outline or reading list to library_reserves@carleton.ca and the readings will be added to Ares, our course reserve management system. 

The reserves staff will retrieve, scan, and process all readings and will also ensure all e-reserve material comply with current copyright guidelines. Students will be able to access their electronic readings through cuLearn.

Mapping stereotypes

Maps are powerful data visualization tools that can promote important conversations about a range of topics human settlements and watersheds to how we think about the world. Case in point: This World War I vintage map of Europe.   This map is currently on display in the Carleton University Library, along with other maps such as The world according to Americans (2009)  that capture human judgement and bias and other library materials that can be used to open up conversations about stereotyping and discrimination. The display continues to generate important conversations among students as well as between students and library staff. Here's a story about this exhibit: The world according to ... whom? Collections update: Move means temporary lack of access to some materials

Due to the work being done to support the current collection move in the Library, the print serials, government documents, and microfilm located at the back of Level 1 are temporarily unavailable for browsing. However, if you need to access these items, we can still get them for you! If you need to access any print serials or government documents from this section, please request the article or volume through Omni. You will see a message that the items are not loanable, but you can still request either a digital copy of the article you are looking for or request the print copy from another library. If you need access to a larger portion of the print serials or government document collections, please contact Library Services in advance of your visit to the Library so that we can work out the best way for you to access the materials.
