Update on library services: RapidILL and more

No need to turn yourself upside down or inside out trying to figure out what's happening at the library. Here are some updates (and there are more to come).

Data, data, and more data management support

    • Looking for microdata or aggregate data to support your research? Whether it's national or international data, we can help you! Check out this page or email us at dataservices@carleton.ca for more information.
    • Our Research Data Centre Branch Office offers secure access to detailed microdata from Statistics Canada, including the Census and some administrative databases. Check out this page or email us at rdc@cunet.carleton.ca
    • Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, it remains open, with appropriate safety and health measures in effect.
    • For help with research data management and writing a data management plan (to comply with the Tri-Agency Guidelines), check out this page or email us at rdm@library.carleton.ca
    • Get a Dataverse account so that you can create a repository to store your research data—you even get a DOI for your dataset. For more information, visit this page or email us at dataverse@library.carleton.ca

Accessing the library building and materials

Building closure

    • The building will continue to be closed until provincial restrictions are lifted.

Borrowing

    • We are continuing to provide multiple access points to our physical collections. You can request either a Curbside Pickup or Mail Delivery by logging to your library account on Omni.  Materials that are digitally available on HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access database are not available for physical loan.
    • If you only require a short portion or except from a book (10% or 1 chapter) you can use our Scan on Demand service by logging into your library account on Omni to request a digital copy.
    • Carleton faculty, staff and students are now able to request items through OMNI. Patrons will place their requests in the system for curbside and mail delivery, and digitization requests for items in our own print collection will also be submitted through OMNI.

Reserves

    • If you are teaching and want to provide your students with electronic access to course readings, business cases or films, considering using our Library Reserves service. All readings can be integrated into your Brightspace and are copyright compliant. You can reach us at library_reserves@cunet.carleton.ca

RapidILL

    • RapidILL is now available for Carleton faculty, staff and students. This new Interlibrary Loans service delivers electronic materials (journal articles, chapters) to patron in less than 24 hours . Requests will be sent out to over 400 libraries through an automated borrowing and lending system. Requests are placed through OMNI and received by email. This new service will be offered in addition to our current RACER system.
